Sheriff Andrew Jackson "Andy" Taylor is the lead character on The Andy Griffith Show, an American sitcom which aired on CBS, (1960–1968). He also appears in the Gomer Pyle, U.S.Grand.C. episode "Opie Joins the Marines", fabricated a cameo advent in the USMC episode "Gomer Goes Dwelling," five episodes of Mayberry R.F.D. When the series opens, several years have passed since Opie's mother died. Andy mentions in the backstairs pilot from The Danny Thomas Show that he lost Opie's female parent when Opie was "the least petty speck of a baby". Opie is 6 years old when the prove opens (born in 1954), and it is more than than probable (based on Andy'due south testimony) that Opie'south female parent died at Opie's nativity or before long thereafter.
